Hosted email access
Mail clients, hosted domain setup and the separation between product inboxes and corporate webmail.
Hosted email access
NorthRelay's hosted inbox service uses Stalwart Community. Sending through the NorthRelay API, SDK or MCP remains available independently of a desktop email app.
Mail application settings
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Username | Full mailbox email address |
| Incoming host | mail.northrelay.ca |
| IMAP | Port 993, SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing host | mail.northrelay.ca |
| SMTP | Port 465 with SSL/TLS, or 587 with STARTTLS |
| SMTP authentication | Required; use the mailbox or assigned app credential |
A custom mail.<domain> hostname must have DNS and a valid certificate before it
can be used. Domain verification for sending alone does not configure an inbox,
MX routing, certificate or automatic client discovery. Follow the hosted-domain
setup workflow and verify incoming and outgoing access separately.
Browser access and passwords
NorthRelay customer inboxes belong to the NorthRelay application. Separately managed corporate webmail deployments use their own browser URLs and access policies. A corporate Authelia login does not create a NorthRelay customer account.
Corporate SSO, when enabled, authenticates browser webmail through Authelia. Desktop and mobile IMAP/SMTP clients continue to use mailbox or app passwords; changing an SSO password does not change those credentials. This Community deployment does not provide end-to-end mailbox encryption or desktop OAuth login.
